Here is the latest

Robert and I arrived here in San Diego (along with my brother Rick the boat owner) on Thursday morning...10/8/15.  Not a lot to do at that point as the boat was still up on stands at the boat yard.  It seems that boat yards work on their own pace! So we checked into a hotel and did a little exploring.  We ended the day relaxing in the pool.

I won't bore you with all the details of the work that was gettiing done or all of the hassles and delays caused by sketchy contractors, but this was not a pleasant experiance for all involved.

On Friday the boat was supposed to by in the water by noon.   So, par for the course it got in the water at about 4:30 pm.  It took about an hour to bring up all of the systems and get moving.  We headed towards the channel to head out to the pacific ocean for a shake down cruise.  We only made it about 500 yards before we turned around and headed back to the dock.  The main engine was starting to over heat.  The stress level on the boat overheated as well!

On Saturday, Robert and I were tasked with washing the entire outside of the boat....Its a process known as F the new guys!.....It worked!  It took us all day but it gave us something to do while the folks with the knowledge trouble shooted and fixed the problem with the Main engine.  At 5:00pm we pulled away fron the dock to try the shake down cruise again!....This time the main functioned flawlessly.  It was a great way to end the day.  We went out at sunset and came back after dark.  All the lights from the surrounding area were stunning.

On Sunday Robert and I finally moved on the boat and stowed our gear.  Then it was time to start the provisioning process.   We spent all day picking up supplys and bringing them on board and stowing them.

Today...Monday is more  of the same.  Today is buy food day! Not glamorous but it is interesting tryiing to "guess" how much of everything we will need for this long trip.  We will have opportunities to resupply along the way as well.

We still don't know when we will be leaving...still a few items that need to be repaired; 12k Generator, air conditioning, the graphics for the new name of the boat still have to be installed, and the davit is still not working properly.  There is also a pretty severe storm on its way by the end of the week so if we are not out of here soon we will have to wait it out at the dock.  Thats about all there is to tell right now.  Talk to you Soon.

This is my home for the next several weeks.  It is aproximately 7 ft wide on one end and 5 ft wide on the other end.  It my own private domain!
